“2012 is a big year for Los Angeles-based Crooked & Castles. A decade ago, co-founders Dennis Calvero and Robert Panlilio launched the brand with 10 tees. Today, it has evolved into a full line, boasting everything from denim and footwear to cut-n-sew and wovens, all the way to woman’s and even toddler’s. And, along the way, they’ve also released a slew of special projects, one being their iconic collabo with eyewear brand Mosley Tribes, teaming up for special edition versions of their Castellano frames.
Following the initial release in matte black, Crooks re-released them a few years back in a gloss black. This week, in celebration of the brand’s decade milestone, they’ve brought back the Castellano in two colorways: a re-release of the original matte black, and a new tortoise version.
With the importance of the release and the occasion behind it, we caught up with Crooks & Castles co-founder/creative director Dennis Calvero to revisit how the Mosley Tribes x Crooks collab first came about, the thought-process behind the design, and the impact the frames had on fashion and the company’s growth and evolution.
The Crooks x Mosley Tribes “Decade” Castellano is available now at their Hawaii flagship (641 Keeaumoku St. Suite 1, Honolulu, HI) and online at CrooksnCastles.com”
